Hysteria! movie premiere

Well, keeping this blog updated regularly is proving to be more of a challenge than I expected, but in my defense that’s because I’ve been busy writing. :) There are so many great CFS open right now! I feel like I’m spending all my time either writing about sex or thinking about it. ;)

Last week was especially exciting, thanks to Good for Her, a fantastic, open-minded local Toronto business that sells high quality sex toys, DVDs, books, and other intimate products with a focus on celebrating women’s sexuality in a positive and comfortable way. It’s located downtown at 175 Harbord Street, east of Bathurst and west of Spadina – perfect for people like me who rely on the subway for transit. :)

2 weeks ago, Good for Her ran a contest for 2 free passes to a pre-screening of the new film Hysteria!, which is about the invention of the vibrator! It stars Maggie Gyllenhaal, who I have been in love with ever since her sexy, submissive performance in Secretary. Following the screening, there will be a panel and Q&A session, which will include a talk by Carlyle Jensen. She is the founder of Good for Her and teaches a number of sex workshops there centered around female pleasure – particularly orgasms. I really wanted to hear her speak.

I entered the contest and crossed my fingers, and to my absolute delight, Carlyle emailed me mid-week to tell me I was one of the lucky winners! <3

So tonight, May 14th I'll be seeing Hysteria! and attending the panel and Q&A afterwards! I don't know which I'm more excited for - to see Maggie Gyllenhaal hopefully pleasure herself with a toy on the big screen, or to hear Carlyle’s discussion about vibrators afterwards!!

Weekly Writing Updates

What a tiring week! :( It’s the fiscal year end at my office, so all our financial books need to be closed. As a result, every day this month has been exponentially more stressful than the last.

I’m really looking forward to the weekend and some quiet time alone with my laptop to escape the thought of unbalanced spreadsheets and focus instead on polishing off three stories I want to submit to some really interesting Calls for Submissions that were posted recently.

Also, yesterday I got some great feedback about a recent submission I made to an upcoming Cleis Press anthology, so I have my fingers crossed that the editor approves the final manuscript and I can add that book to my slowly growing list of publications.

On a personal note, I’m also hoping to attend some classes at Good For Her, here in Toronto, in April and May to meet people and hopefully find some inspiration and some fresh ideas for future stories. :)

A Quick Introduction

Hello and welcome to my blog!

My name is M. Marie.

I am a freelance writer, who has very recently began writing erotica.

I am finding the experience challenging, but exciting. It has made me discover new sides to myself, led me to strengthen my personal relationships, and is constantly pushing me to critically examine boundaries I didn’t even realize I had.

I’ve created this blog to share teasers of my new stories, notices about new publications and projects I will be involved with, and reviews of local events here in Toronto that I think would be of interest to anyone who enjoys my writing or its subject matter.

I have some fun plans for this website, so please check back often!
